Dutch Poffertjes House is a Dutch family-owned mobile food business that has been serving fresh poffertjes to Australians since 2001. What began as a single stall has grown into a fleet of Dutch cottage-themed food trucks and trailers, operating at shows, fairs and festivals throughout New South Wales and Queensland.
Based in Sydney’s north-west, our little blue windmill and rows of tulips are a familiar sight at agricultural shows, beachside events and regional festivals. Every setup is designed to look like a cosy Dutch brick house – complete with red windows and tulip gardens – so your guests feel like they’ve stepped into a corner of the Netherlands.
Poffertjes are traditional Dutch mini pancakes made from a yeasted batter, often with a touch of buckwheat flour for flavour. They’re cooked in a cast-iron pan with small wells and flipped quickly so the centres stay soft and fluffy. In the Netherlands they’re a classic festival treat, piled into a paper tray and served hot with a generous dusting of powdered sugar and a knob of butter.
We keep that tradition alive here in Australia – with the option to add toppings like jam and cream or Nutella for an extra treat.
With more than two decades on the road, we understand what event organisers need: reliable communication, professional presentation, fast service during peak times and happy guests. We’ve worked with councils, schools, community groups and private clients, as well as brands and organisations such as KISS FM’s Kyle and Jackie O Show, and Bunnings Warehouse.
